Vehicle Capacity & Pricing

  • Occupancy Limit: Each jeep can accommodate 1 registered driver, 1 registered guide, and up to 8 guests (maximum of 6 adults and 2 children under 12 years old).
  • Flat Pricing: The booking cost remains identical whether you have 1 guest or a full group of 6 adults.
  • No Ride-Sharing: Officially, there is no option to share a jeep safari with outside parties; you must book the entire vehicle.

Safari Zones, Logistics and Tiger Spotting

  • Single Zone Access: A single safari permit allows entry into only one specific zone. Your entry and exit gates must be identical.
  • Eco-Tourism Areas vs. Official Tiger Reserve Zones: Please be advised that Sitabani, Phato, Pawalgarh, Bhandarpani, and Hathi Dagar are designated Eco-Tourism Forest Safari Areas. These are entirely separate from the official Corbett Tiger Reserve Safari Zones (such as Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhela, Garjiya, and Durga Devi). Safari permits, entry regulations, and operational management for these Eco-Tourism Areas are handled independently according to specific Forest Department guidelines.
  • Duration: The total experience lasts approximately 4 hours from resort pickup to resort drop-off.
  • Guide Boarding: Your assigned guide will board the jeep at the official entry gate of the safari zone.
  • Wildlife Sightings & Tiger Spotting: While wildlife sightings are entirely possible during any safari, they cannot be guaranteed. Sightings depend completely on natural wildlife movements, weather conditions, and seasonal factors.

Strict Restrictions & Regulations

  • No Private Vehicles: Private vehicles are strictly prohibited from entering the national park. All safaris must use registered jeeps.
  • Punctuality is Critical: If you arrive late past a specific cutoff time, entry will be denied completely by security.
  • Permit Limitations: Permits are strictly limited per zone and per day, making advanced booking highly recommended.
  • No Pets: Pets are absolutely not allowed on the jeep safaris under any circumstances.
  • Amenities: There is exactly one bio-break (restroom) facility available inside each safari zone.

Vehicle & Driver Allocation Rules

To secure your preferred vehicle, understanding the timing of your booking is highly critical:

  • Bookings Made More Than 72 Hours in Advance: The Forest Department provides an option to select your specific choice of vehicle by vehicle number. Guests can pick their preferred jeep at the time of booking.
  • Last-Minute Bookings (Within 72 Hours): If a permit is booked between 72 hours to 7 hours before a morning safari, or between 72 hours to 2 hours before an afternoon safari, the Forest Department assigns the Gypsy automatically via a strict roster system.
  • Driver Policy: Please note that the Forest Department assigns specific Jeeps, not specific Drivers. Even after a Gypsy number is allotted, the driver can be changed at any time based on the consensus of the vehicle’s actual owner.
  • Vehicle Ownership: These safari Gypsies are privately owned by local operators and are not owned by the Forest Department. Local Gypsy owners must register their vehicles annually in strict accordance with Forest Department protocols and local RTO guidelines.

Cancellation Policy (If Initiated by Guest)

  • 24 Hours or More Prior to Safari Date: * A cancellation charge of ₹3,500 applies against the permit booking (this amount is completely non-refundable by the forest department).
    • An additional service charge of ₹500 applies.
  • Between 24 Hours and Jeep Arrival: * A flat cancellation fee of ₹5,000 will be applicable.
  • After Jeep Arrival: * Once the jeep has arrived at the resort for guest pickup, no refund will be provided under any circumstances.

Cancellation Policy (Initiated by the Corbett Tiger Reserve)

  • Monsoon Season Hazards: The majority of department-enforced cancellations occur during the monsoon season. Heavy rains can create sudden seasonal streams and severe flooding along safari routes, which poses a life-threatening risk to travelers in safari vehicles.
  • Director’s Authority: In the interest of safety, confirmed permits can be summarily canceled by the order of the Reserve Director without prior notice.
  • Strikes & Operational Disruptions: The forest department reserves the right to completely close down any safari zone or divert vehicles if operations are disrupted by local strikes (dharna), jeep union strikes, guide strikes, or any other unforeseen events beyond their control.
  • Wildlife Safety Concerns: If a specific tiger’s movement or behavior is deemed dangerous to visitors, the forest department may immediately cancel safaris in that particular zone.

⚠️ Important Refund Notice: In all of the above situations initiated by the authorities, any refund of the permit amount is entirely at the sole discretion of the forest department. Typically, standard permit amounts remain non-refundable even during emergency closures.
